We're collecting our best combat tips and tricks for Hi-Fi Rush to keep your combos going and get a great ranking in your battles and boss fights. Hi-Fi Rush was surprise-released on Jan 25, 2023 for Xbox Series S, Series X and PC.

You can cancel the recovery of the last hit in a combo with a dash.

If you time your dash to the beat you get two bonus dashes for a three dash chain.

Launch enemies by staggering the timing of your light attack presses. On Xbox: X - wait - X, X / On PLayStation SQUARE - wait -, SQUARE, DQUARE (they actually do teach you this in a hit bot later on). Alternately, you can also do a heavy attack after dodging to also launchSometimes it's better to not finish your combo. Beat hits are strong, but they knock the enemy away. On a fresh enemy, consider dashing to cancel a combo before the last hit and start a new combo over.

The X, Y, Y / SQUARE, TRIANGLE, TRIANGLE combo, Breakdown, is very good at hitting several enemies surrounding you.

The Y, X, X / TRIANGLE, SQUARE, SQUARE combo, Tremolo, on the contrary, is very good at hitting singular enemies and building up stun.

There is a Latency Checking tool in the Sound Settings tab of the Option Menu. Move the blinking cat logo so that it flashes as the beat marker passes underneath it. This gives you a visual representation of how much audio lag you are working with, and can be a good way to figure out if you need to change something with any of your hardware settings.

When in the middle of a combo, you may need to choose between interrupting the combo to dash out of danger, or trying to follow through on your final hits while hoping that you don't get hit. When in this situation we recommend prioritizing dodging, as you can always start a new combo, but taking too many hits will cause a game-over.

If you want to keep your combat rating up but you have no nearby enemies to attack, string together a series of dodges to the beat to sustain your combat rating.

During boss battles, many of the attacks will be impossible to avoid without dodging. If in doubt, always time your dodge to the beat to ensure that you steer clear of taking damage.

While the world gives you visual clues on where the beat is to best time your attacks (alongside the music itself, of course), pressing the view button on the Xbox controller will give you a permanent bar on the bottom of the screen for a more direct visual representation of the beat.
